7:45 - 8:15 am Full breakfast provided by OHSWA
8:15 - 10 am Landfill Tour & Presentation
The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority is constructing a new cell within the Ava Landfill facility. The new construction includes preliminary installation of landfill gas collection system components. MVEIE will be conducting a site visit to the facility for our September meeting. OHSWA Executive Director Bill Rabbia will be our host for the day and will provide a tour of the facility. We will be able to observe construction activities and learn about environmental safeguards, operational capabilities and requirements of the facility.
Following the tour, there may be an opportunity for an informal golf outing at a nearby course. Please indicate your interest when confirming attendance. All costs would be the responsibility of the participant.
Note - If you need to drive yourself (if golfing or any other reason), the landfill is located on Route 294 west of Boonville. Enter main entrance and park in the Visitor lot to the right of the Scale House Office. Please arrive by 7:45 am. A general map is attached for reference.
